Organisation Background

Youth Empowered Uganda is a community based organization entirely comprising of youths operating in Mukono and Buikwe District Uganda that have demonstrated that the strength of the community and a network of volunteers is the driving force behind a successful response to poverty eradication and youth related challenges.

On realizing the challenges that all forms of youth face, a group of incredible and skilled youth, spearheaded by Sengendo James Jimron as the vision bearer, sought to pull together their knowledge and efforts into an organization [on 16th June 2009] so as to contribute to the fight against hardcore poverty and HIV/AIDS in humans especially the youth.
Based on our personal experiences of living below the poverty line, single parenting, fear, stigma and social seclusion, we the youth formed a core team and founded an initiative that would bring to reality the issues that all forms of youth and young people living in poverty and tentative life face.
Among the challenges is Youth messing up their lives, illiteracy, loss of control, disability, fear, stigma, and loss of self- esteem among the many others.

On the 23rd of November 2009 we come up with an official constitution [Governing document], work plan and budget for the organization, so that we can put to implementation all the issues we had came up with by that time.
On the 7th April 2010 we officially registered with Mukono district local government, this enabled us to really reach on the grassroots legally.

Our Vision is to realize a poverty free life for the youth, through our goal of providing unlimited hope for a destitute youth.

Our main purpose is to transform the lives of destitute youth, youth living in hard core, underage parents and youth infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through; strengthening youth human resource for sustainable community development initiatives, Enhance the socio-economic status of the youth by engaging them in income-generating project to enable them realize their potential, Enhance capacity building of the youth through seminars, workshops & trainings, sensitizing and creating awareness on HIV AIDS, Improve access to education and skills training among the other objectives.
